This week at Coffee Social, we decided to go around the table and share local favorites that might not be so well known. Jessica took notes, so I’ve written them up here to share with you all. 🙂
- Lagunitas – There are free tastings and tours starting in the upstairs clubhouse room every weekday at 1 and 3 PM. The TOURS section of their website allows you to pre-reserve a spot.
- Thai Cuisine, the restaurant in a random victorian on the Boulevard near Lakeville, has surprisingly good take out and delivery. They use this handy app called EatStreet that makes ordering delivery from your phone super easy.
- Griffo Distillery has a bottling party once a month. For $5, you help them bottle their spirits and you go home with two free bottles of whatever you helped with that day. Plus, it sounds like fun!
- Santa Rosa Junior College Theater Arts puts on high-quality, low-cost musicals worth checking out. Our insider at WORK said Shrek was fantastic, and he doesn’t even like musicals!
- Every Wednesday night September to May, the SRJC Petaluma Campus has a Cinema Series, featuring classic, foreign, and independent films with special guests, public lectures and post-screening discussions. Just $5 to get in and open to everyone.
- Every Sunday from 10 AM – 1 PM at the River Heritage Center Barn (on the river near the D Street bridge), the Friends of the Petaluma River offer, free of charge, a growing fleet of rowboats, canoes, kayaks and a sailboat. It’s a great way to get on the water and explore!
- Anna’s Seafood behind the old OSH building is has great fresh fish, plus a delicious poke bowls for lunch.
- Twin Oaks, on the way to Penngrove, looks like a dive bar from the street and has the classic charm of a good roadhouse inside, but because it is now owned by HopMonk, it also has great food and beer, plus live music and a big patio out back.
- In the one-block downtown of Penngrove, YiaYia’s The Grateful Greek has fantastic take out. But don’t expect to eat in. Apparently, it;s the size of a shoebox!
- Butcher Crown, the new roadhouse out Bodega Ave, also comes highly recommended.
- If you haven’t yet tried Pearl, over on 1st street near Aqus Cafe, you should! The food is full of original flavors and we love how there is no tipping, it’s just all included in the price. Very hip!
So there you have it! It’s almost all food, but we love food around here, and you gotta eat. 😉
