IngridIn this session, Ingrid Alverde will discuss tips and tools for starting a business in Petaluma.  Starting a business can be daunting and requires you to address many legal and logistical issues that you may not even know about.  Petaluma recently published a business tool kit that she will share.

She will discuss things that a new startup business should think about including:

  • local permitting
  • licensing
  • real estate
  • financing
  • marketing

Bio:  Ingrid started her career in local government in 1994 after graduating from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Urban Studies and Planning.  She worked in the fields of Redevelopment, Affordable Housing, and Economic Development for the Cities of San Diego and Poway before joining the City of Petaluma as the Economic Development Manager in May of 2011.  She has been recognized for her work in local outreach and education efforts and as a leader in sustainable affordable housing development.  

As Economic Development Manager for the City of Petaluma, she collaborates with local property owners, brokers, trade associations, and businesses to help local businesses grow and encourage new businesses to locate in Petaluma.  Her overarching goal is to improve the quality of life in Petaluma by increasing local revenues and job opportunities.
