Inspired by North Bay iHub’s Innovation Week, WORK Petaluma poses the question: How can we live local and impact global?
Innovation can cover all fields. Coworking is, in and of itself, a form of innovation, transforming the way we work and expanding our potential. Every day we are inspired by the broad reach and exciting advancements of our members’ projects. As a part of North Bay Innovation Week, we are delighted to have these speakers, all of them a part of WORK, sharing their stories with you:
Christine Walker – The Design Guild – expanding the reach of good design – As Co-Founder and Managing Director, Christine will tell us the story of how this group of local professionals, rooted in the shared ideal that better design can shine a light on what makes a community beautiful, strong and vibrant, have found a way to extend the breadth of their work far beyond the city borders.
Jonathan Lee – New Sun Road – delivering innovative decentralized energy – As Co-Founder and Head of Engineering, Jonathan will give insight into how his small team distributed around California has partnered with a team in Uganda to design and build localized community solar power systems in unelectrified rural areas. He will share lessons from working in different virtual and local environments, the enrichment and challenges that come from cross-cultural design and project management, and his perspective on what creates empowering and mutually beneficial “global impact”.
Seair Lorentz – The Food Business School – transforming the business of food – As Marketing Manager, Seair will share the vision of The Culinary Institute of America’s new center for executive and graduate education—and the world’s first business school dedicated to food entrepreneurship and innovation. Established to meet the growing interest and need for broad food-system transformation, FBS is built for future leaders ready to tackle the planet’s most pressing food challenges—and its greatest business opportunities.
Amit Kulkarni – M2Gen – combining the fields of genetics and data analytics – As a scientist specializing in bioinformatics and data analysis, Amit will give us a peek inside the exciting world of current cancer research and the power of data to transform medicine.
